It’s amazing just how much puffy, baggy eyes can alter your appearance. As someone who suffers from near constant bags under my eyes, I often look like I haven’t slept in days, or at the very least am suffer from a bit of an illness. When my bags are adequately covered with the miracle that is makeup, I look like a completely different person. And while makeup is a great cover up, it’s not quite the same as vanquishing those pesky bags all together. So how do we get rid of them permanently? Here are a few tips and tricks:

Woman with cucumbers on her eyes

Potato Slices
While we’ve all probably heard about the cucumber slices trick, this Spanish beauty trick isn’t quite as well known. It turns out that taking clean potato slices and placing them over your eyes for 10 minutes will help lighten the dark circles, and doing this as part of your skin care routine can lead to amazing results. So next time you’re getting groceries, pick up an extra couple of potatoes!

Lemon Juice
Lemon juice has some amazing bleaching properties—that’s what makes lemon juice helpful to lighten or highlight hair—and it works well on the skin too! Dip some cotton balls in fresh lemon juice and place it on your bags, leaving it on for about 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse it with water and repeat daily for best results!

Tea Bags
Tea bags can not only help with removing dark circles, but they can reduce puffiness as well! The caffeine and antioxidants in tea work to shrink the blood vessels and can reduce fluid retention. Tea bags also contain tannins, which can get your under eyes back to your normal skin color and reduce swelling. All you have to do is place your used green or black tea bags in the fridge for about half an hour and then place one bag over each eye and leave them on for about 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the bags and wash your face, repeating daily for a few weeks.
