I’ve had sensitive skin for as long as I can remember, meaning that finding suitable skincare products has always felt like a chore. I can’t even tell you how much money I’ve thrown at products that immediately sting or irritate my skin, meaning that I never end up using them again.
Many of my problems have been with products that have been designed specifically for sensitive skin. This isn’t necessarily the fault of the products – everyone’s sensitivities will be different, making it difficult to create a product that’s universally suited for everyone with sensitive skin.
However, this led me to look further afield in my search for skincare, where I ended up discovering Bionyx. Although none of the brand’s products have been created solely for sensitive skin, some of the formulas looked extremely promising, more so than specialized products. So, with nothing to lose, I gave some of them a try – here’s what I thought:
The Rhodium Mousse Cleanser: A Richly Moisturizing Lather
Cleansers are always a tricky product for people with sensitive skin. Many of the surfactants, aka cleansing agents, that are used in cleansers are also common irritants. Not only does sensitive skin easily react to them but regular use could make those sensitivities even worse.
This is why I was drawn to the Bionyx Rhodium Mousse Cleanser. It doesn’t contain any of the standard surfactants that you usually see in regular cleansers. Instead, it uses cleansing agents derived from coconuts. Not only are these effective at cleaning the skin but they also have conditioning capabilities. Rather than drying the skin out, they leave it feeling softer, which is exactly what I notice each time I use this cleanser.
Of course, the amino acids in this formula are also beneficial to those with sensitive skin. Amino acids will help your skin barrier to feel stronger and thicker. In the long run, this could tone down the feeling of sensitivity.
The Rhodium Facial Toner: Provides a Sense of Balance
If you only plan on trying one Bionyx product, make it the Rhodium Facial Toner. It has made such a big difference to my sensitive skin!
Before my life was blessed with this product, I never used to use a toner. However, this one, with its short ingredient list that’s free of alcohol and fragrances, intrigued me. It’s a formula that reads to be exceptionally hydrating. With sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, betaine, and castor oil, it’s packed with moisture-binding ingredients. You’ll also spot niacinamide on the list, with this vitamin known for working wonders on sensitive skin.
In terms of results, I couldn’t be happier. I knew after the very first time I used it that I was going to fall in love with it, simply because my skin felt so fresh and restored for hours after. I now use it twice a day and my skin always seems to have a radiant glow to it. Dehydration is never a problem anymore either!
The Rhodium Intensive Eye Serum: Soothes and Revives the Complexion
With the skin around the eyes already being more delicate and sensitive than the skin everywhere else on the face, those with sensitive skin can really struggle with the eye area. I’m one of those people – puffy under-eyes are a common occurrence for me and my fine lines have recently started to become more noticeable.
So, with hope, I turned to the Bionyx Rhodium Intensive Eye Serum. It contains several ingredients that are commonly recommended for sensitive skin, including extracts from aloe vera, purslane, and chrysanthemum. Apple fiber is a key ingredient in this serum too. It’s packed with vitamins and antioxidants yet won’t leave the skin feeling irritated.
It only took a couple of uses for this serum to help my skin. It had a significant de-puffing effect on my complexion, so much so that the appearance of eye bags is no longer an issue for me now that I’m using this serum daily. Even after a late, stressful night, this serum allows me to wake up to skin that looks bright and smooth!
The Alloy Platinum Synergizing Serum: Potent Actives Without Irritation
There are certain ingredients that are billed as must-haves for everyone. Vitamin C is a great example. This antioxidant is revered for how it can help with just about every visible skin concern that you might happen to face.
The downside is that those with sensitive skin often struggle with active vitamins. As great as these ingredients may be, they can sometimes be a little too potent for sensitive skin. This is why I was drawn to the Bionyx Alloy Platinum Synergizing Serum. It’s infused with 3-0-ethyl ascorbic acid. It’s a highly stable form of vitamin C that can work wonders on the complexion. The fact that, in this serum, it’s combined with sodium hyaluronate, peptides, and other complexion-soothing ingredients meant that, in theory, it should be absolutely fine for sensitive skin.
In reality? It truly is. There aren’t many vitamin C serums out there that don’t irritate my sensitive skin, which is why this is now my absolute favorite. I use it twice a day on my face and neck and have seen improvements in my skin thanks to this dedication. My skin now looks tighter and more radiant – I couldn’t have asked for more!
